Year 6

17  Jan  2019

Today, Mexico, more specifically, the Maya and Aztec civilisations came to life for Year 6. Ian, Graciella and Jo from Mexicolore shared their knowledge of these two warring nations - if they weren't trading, they were raiding (apparently)!

Year 6 learnt about how they lived, the foods that we now enjoy that came from their lands and they were introduced to the sounds and sports of these two amazing cultures. Both civilisations based their lives around the Earth, Sun, Moon and Water. The children were engrossed as they were invited to wear the clothes and headdresses of these ancient people. They played instruments that would have been around when the Maya and Aztecs ruled their world and they participated in the oldest ball game.

Not sure what we have left to teach them now because they learnt so much today.
