It was a truly scrumptious start to the term for Year Two. A feast of delicious, interesting, tasty fruits and vegetables adorned the tables ready to be devoured by some eager children.
Many of the children were brave and tasted something they have never tried before. Well done to them! Some children have even gone home asking their parents to buy different fruits and vegetables when they go shopping.
In the afternoon, we cut up some more fruits and vegetables to find out what they look like inside. It was fascinating to see the children’s faces as the fruit and vegetables were cut open. Would they have seeds or pips? Would there be a stone? Was it in segments? All the children carefully observed and sketched the fruits and vegetables, to create some super art work.
Our topic “Food Glorious Food” is all about how we can keep healthy by eating the right sorts of food. We have been thinking about what our favourite foods are and where we will find them on the food pyramid. As the term progresses, we shall become food specialists, learning where some of our food comes from and what constitutes healthy and not so healthy meals and snacks.
Our taste-buds are watering already…
