Guess what! We had something so special delivered to us this week! As you know our topic is 'Minibeasts' this term and we are now the very proud owners of ten tiny, beautiful, baby caterpillars! Well, we say tiny, they were on Monday, when we opened the parcel! We've had them for five whole days and they have doubled their size! It must be that special food they are enjoying in their tubs.
We have found out so much about caterpillars this week! We have been reading lots of non-fiction books to help us research food they like to eat, where they like to live and what happens when they grow up!
We have looked at the 'Life Cycle of a Butterfly' and soon our caterpillars will be getting ready to turn into a chrysalis! We'll keep you posted!
We have listened to the story 'The Hungry Caterpillar' and looked at all the different food he ate to help him grow. We tasted different fruits and decided which ones we liked and disliked. Everyone in Reception could choose to do caterpillar and butterfly collage, paint minibeast pictures and make models. In maths this week we counted caterpillars on leaves to make different number sentences!
Such a busy week! Here are some pictures of the fun we have had.
