Hello again from Reception!
We are so proud of our children in Reception, their first sports day was a great success! They really enjoyed it and we hope that those who attended enjoyed it just as much as we did!
At the beginning of last week, our ‘class caterpillars had wrapped themselves into their cocoons and we continued to watched closely. The weekend came and went, and we all arrived in school on Monday morning filled with wonder and excitement!Everyone made their way to the Butterfly house in our classroom. What a wonderful surprise to see our butterflies! Ten beautiful, brightly coloured butterflies had emerged from their cocoons.
Just after lunch that afternoon, we decided the kindest thing to do, especially with the weather so hot, would be to let them go. The whole of Reception walked out on to the fields to find a suitable place to set them free. All the children laughed and cheered as each one left to explore their new surroundings. The children have learned so much from this experience and this was ‘The icing on the cake!’ We all agreed that every time we see a butterfly with the same colours as ours, we would wonder whether they were the ones we had nurtured from tiny little baby caterpillars in our classroom.
We are continuing to learn about a variety of minibeasts, and practising singing some very special minibeast songs. We hope you will come to our ‘Celebration of work’ evening so that we could share them with you!
