Hello from us all in Reception!
The children have had so much fun working on our topic ‘Down on the Farm’ and are feeling very excited about their trip to Gaston Farm!
We have been looking at non-fiction books about pigs, cows and chickens. We discussed the life-cycle of a chicken and then put the pictures in the correct order. We created wonderful pictures of pigs, cows and chicks using a variety of wool, thread and other creative resources.
We have been making farm machinery with lots of ‘junk modelling’ resources and chose the shapes we needed using mathematical language relevant to 3D shapes. One member of Reception even said ‘I’m going to need a cuboid for my tractor and a cylinder for the funnel!’
Children have been playing in the ‘Farm Shop, and have been buying eggs, cheese, potatoes and cakes.
We also made pancakes on ‘Pancake Day’ and Mrs. Roy was really good at tossing them!
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed coming to school in our pyjamas for World Book Day! Even the teachers! We had lots of different activities to do and even made our own books! We went to assembly and Mrs. Jones came to read us one of her favourite stories! We are looking forward to choosing a new book and buying it with our World book day voucher!
How lovely it has been to play in the snow! Real snow! We won’t forget that in a hurry!
