Children in Need Mufti Day
18-Nov-2016Children and staff are invited to wear bright or spotted clothing (or both if you are feeling brave!!) in return for a donation to the BBC's Children in Need appeal. Buckets will be in the playground for donations.
Don't forget that key-rings and wristbands are on sale in the school office too.

Remembrance
Over the last few weeks the children have been making poppies as part of the Remembrance in preparation for our Remembrance assemblies.
We hope that you have seen the display of poppies in the windows of the Infant School. Below is a picture of our Junior School wall of Remembrance. It bears the names of family and friends lost in all conflicts by members of our school community.
Poppy Art Presentation to Mayor
Children from the Year 3 recycled art club proudly presented Worthing’s Mayor with a piece of art which is made entirely from bottle tops to mark the centenary of the end of World War I.
Ahead of this Sunday’s Armistice Day Centenary, Councillor Paul Baker received the pupils of his former school at the Town Hall.
The Mayor of Worthing said, “I’m really passionate about young children engaging with the act of remembrance, as I think it’s so important that we all learn from history.”
“It’s a lovely way of marking Remembrance Sunday and I would love to see more schools do the same.”
Mrs Watson, who runs the recycled art club, explained: “Our poppy wreaths have been on display in the foyer of the Town Hall, alongside the Books of Remembrance, since 2014, when we first attended the 100 years commemoration of Armistice Day at the War Memorial. We wanted to mark the final year of the centenary with something extraordinary, in addition to the usual poppy wreath. The art club children studied photographs of poppy fields before planning the design and they decided that the sunset would symbolise the closing of the centenary commemorations very well.”
The artwork and poppy wreath are being displayed in the foyer of Worthing Town Hall alongside the books of remembrance.
Charity Haircut
We have loved hearing about all of the exciting things the children have got up to over the summer and wanted to share something with you.
Abi from year 5 is looking a little different this term. When she left us in July she had very long hair, but over the holidays she had 10 inches cut off!
Abi donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, who will use it to make wigs for children who have sadly lost their own hair to illness. As well as giving her hair, Abi's mum set up a facebook page to raise money for the charity and they managed to raise an amazing figure of £180.
Well done Abi for being so kind and thoughtful. We think your new hairstyle looks great!
