‘Parents of Durrington’ or ‘PODS’ for short, is a group of parents and staff who work together to plan and deliver fundraising events that are fun, and add to the experiences of the children.
All parents and carers are welcome to join in and help in any way they can. You can still be involved, even if you only have a little spare time to commit - why not come to one of our regular meetings which are held at school? Even if you cannot attend a meeting, you can still help by volunteering to help in the preparation or running of our events throughout the school year - even if it is just for an hour or two, your help will be greatly appreciated.
The PODS Constitution, which explains and clarifies how we work and what we do is available here.
Next Meeting Dates
Our next meeting is scheduled for Friday March 9th at 2.00pm.
All meetings take place in school and all parents, guardians and carers are welcome to come along. Meetings are held at different days and times so that we give as many people as possible the chance to attend. If you can't make the date/s currently on this page, do keep checking back, or keep an eye on our Noticeboard (located at the gates between the Infant and Junior Schools) as hopefully there will be one you can attend in the future.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
EventsThis term we are planning to hold an Easter Egg Hunt - more details coming soon.
PODS School Donations
We raised just over £1,832 in our Christmas events - a big thank you to everyone that supported the Raffle, Tombola and Tea with Santa. Some of our Reading Corners have been looking a bit tired, so all classes have been asked what they would like in order to create welcoming and comfortable spaces for children to sit and read. PODS will be making a donation to each and every classroom, and the two libraries, so that all the Reading Corners can be updated.
PODS have paid for visiting authors in both the Infant and Junior School to tie in with World Book Day 2017. The authors took part in workshops with the children to inspire them in their reading and creative writing. PODS donated £200 for prizes for the 2016 Summer Reading Challenge, and have purchased a display "spinner" for each school library.
PODS have funded in full the year end celebrations for the leavers in Year 2 and Year 6 in July 2017 and hopefully all the children enjoyed a fabulous send off to remember their time at Durrington. PODS are aiming to fund this again for July 2018.
If you are able to provide any help or have any questions about PODS, then you can contact us on PODS@dfed.co.uk
If you work for a company that you think might be able to offer matched funding, can donate items to school for free or at a reduced cost, or have a fab idea for fundraising, please do contact us.
