Class R

Busy Farmers

14  Mar  2016

'We have been so busy in Reception! We're off to Coombes Farm very soon and we've been learning so much already about 'The Farm'. We have read information books about pigs, cows and sheep and learned about where our food comes from.

In the Literacy room we have written our own 'Facts' books about these animals. We are enjoying the small world farm too!

In the maths room we have been learning to share. We had to find different ways to share different numbers of cows and sheep between two fields. We found out about odd and even numbers when we were doing this and even identified a pattern! We've become very good at doubling numbers too!

In the discovery room we've cleared our garden planter and filled it with new compost to plant some spring flowers. We made a whole 'flock' of sheep for our creative display.

We now have a farm cafe outside the discovery room. If you'd like to stop for a coffee and scone you can sit in the sunshine at the very inviting tables! We would be only too happy to take your orders, writing down the things you would like from our menu and telling you about 'Today's special!'

Not long to go now before our Farm trip! We have learned so much about farms and farm animals it's going to be so exciting to visit a real, working farm and have a ride on the tractor!
